A schoolmate of mine once remarked that there are “Forces of history at play, that have functioned throughout the ages and these stories are larger than individual events;” The professor had a hearty laugh and quickly told him how wrong he was. Peter, I believe you were right. This publication seeks to show history in the way of the narrative, man has always had an innate desire for freedom. This freedom has flowed down through the ages, and though tyranny appeared the goodness of man sought to put it down. History is not just a string of events, rather is a story, one that always seems to have common themes. The same actors always seem to come to forefront in one form or another. History itself begs the question: “Have we done this before?”
Forces of History traces liberty through events in European history including: Rome, Greece, Middle Ages and even the Irish fight for freedom!
