About This Episode:
Born in Uganda, Muyinza grew up surrounded by music. His family emigrated to Ontario, Canada in the mid-1990s where Muyinza’s parents enrolled him in piano and drum lessons at the age of 6. After losing his mother to cancer in 2001, Muyinza and his family relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, where Muyinza began making his music.

Surrounded by drug and gun violence in his new neighborhood, Muyinza decided to stay inside and make music.

Coming from a poor family, now only poorer with the loss of his mother, Muyinza started working at 13 years old to pay for studio time.

Eventually, he would go to college for the music industry, working full-time to pay, all while releasing two full-length albums, 2 mixtapes and winning multiple awards. In 2014 Muyinza established an online business that would go on to earn him over $600,000 over the next 5 years.

This enabled him to focus on making music full-time. Changing his stage name to his real name Muyinza in 2018, Muyinza has been releasing a song per week while working on and preparing for his album “Beautiful Mess” to be released in 2020.
