About This Episode:
Have you ever felt like life just happened to you without your consent? Kyree Oliver found himself thinking this exact thought about two years ago. He was in his dorm room at college, thinking about the physical, mental, and emotional abuse he underwent in the previous five months of his life. He felt as though he had lost all control over his life and that he was simply life’s punching bag.
Kyree needed a hero to save him but the people closest to him at the time, his teammates, were the people putting him through the abuse. He realized that if anybody was going to save him it HAD to be himself. He realized that he needed to build himself up so that one day he could look in the mirror and honestly say, “I did it…I pulled it together and saved myself!”. He let life happen to him up to that point, but from then on he became the author of his own life’s story. He became the Hero in the Mirror.
Kyree’s Favorite Quote:
“When I walked out the door towards my freedom, I know if I did not leave the anger behind, I would still be in prison.” — Nelson Mandela —
